Update: Gabon BIETC & the "Vie Chère" Initiative
In alignment with the Gabonese government’s "Vie Chère" (High Cost of Living) initiative, significant measures have been implemented to reduce the financial burden on consumers. To support this goal, the government has waived duties and taxes on a selection of essential food products subject to price caps.
Consequently, the Conseil Gabonais des Chargeurs (CGC) has adjusted administrative fees for the issuance of the BIETC (Bordereau d’Identification Électronique de Traçabilité des Cargaisons) for specific commodities bound for Gabon.
Scope of the Initiative
These fee adjustments are designed to streamline the import of essential goods and contribute to the national effort against the rising cost of living. The categories currently benefiting from these changes include:
-
Frozen Meats: Porcine species (pork).
-
Edible Offal: Bovine species (beef).
-
Poultry: Frozen chicken pieces.
-
Seafood: Various frozen fish products.
Action Item: We invite our partners to refer to our previous newsletter to verify the specific HS Codes concerned by this decision and ensure full compliance with the new administrative fee structure.
