The Gabonese authorities have announced the immediate suspension of the exemptions and benefits previously granted in connection with the issuance of the BIETC for products classified as “Vie Chère” (essential consumer goods).
According to the circular dated 23-09-26 issued by the Conseil Gabonais des Chargeurs, the measure follows the Government of Gabon’s decision of 8 September 2026, taken in the context of an audit of the related arrangements.
As a result, BIETCs covering “Vie Chère” products will now be subject to the normal applicable tariff. No new exemptions will be granted, and all previous benefits associated with the “Vie Chère” BIETC are suspended.
Effective immediately, importers and operators concerned should therefore take these changes into account when planning and processing their shipments to Gabon.
